The Wedding of Nicole & Matt

“I can’t believe I’m about to marry the love of my life”.

If there’s one word to describe Nicole and Matt’s wedding, it would be ‘JOY’. We can’t even begin to count how many times Nicole laughed throughout the day or how brightly Matt’s eyes were shining with love and pride every single time he gazed upon his beautiful wife. Curious now aren’t you? Let’s dive right in!

Matt is no stranger to weddings having filmed and photographed a fair number throughout the years but now it’s time for him to be the star of the show. Having thought of being single for a long time, it comes as no surprise that having Nicole step into his life and becoming a huge part of his future, brings more than a few tears to his eyes (as you’ll see in the video). But we wouldn’t want Matt looking like an ugly duckling would we now? It’s dress-up time! With the help of his best mates, Matt suited up in his best suit, a classic black and white tuxedo combo, and was ready for some photos. Usually the one behind the camera, Matt was a bit nervous but was flashing poses left and right in the blink of an eye. Though it may seem overwhelming, your wedding day truly flashes before your eyes so let’s not waste time and start posing like the model you are!

In another room, we had Nicole dancing away her nerves as she gathered herself and got ready for hair and makeup. The insanely talented Creations by Kassy worked her magic which allowed plenty of time for Nicole to sit and chill out before the big day ahead. Before we knew it, Nicole was looking glamorous with hair and makeup complete and dressed in her lacy mermaid-styled wedding dress, she was a vision of beauty.

Now, if you thought the tears were only going to start during the ceremony, you thought wrong! Nicole & Matt exchanged letters full of love and promises and gifts to each other before their big day. Undoubtedly one of the most thoughtful and beautiful presents yet (totally not biased), Matt gifted Nicole a limited edition version of her favourite book series, Lord of The Rings and if you thought Nicole’s smile couldn’t get any wider, you’re most certainly wrong! Before we allowed Nicole to go off, it was finally time for the first look with her dad! From this moment alone, we instantly knew where Nicole got her stunning wide smile from. Her dad absolutely could not get the grin off his face as he finally took in his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress. With a final last gift from her parents and a few family photos later, Nicole was ready to face the music.

With the sun shining against the colourful mosaic tiles of St. Michael the Archangel Chapel, Nicole and Matt were a vision to behold as the bright rays reflected off them creating a glow like no other. As they took their vows in front of their family and friends and were pronounced Husband and Wife, you could practically feel and see the joy reflected off everyone near and dear to the newly wedded couple. As photographers, we couldn’t possibly decline the chance to take a few (or more) pictures of the stunningly joyous couple as they neared the end of the ceremony and that’s exactly what happened. Against the warm Autumn background, it was the perfect setting for a heartwarming and fulfilling shoot which we hope Nicole & Matt will treasure. It was a rollercoaster of a ride as we took photos in every single corner of the area ensuring Matt & Nicole got the pictures they deserved. Take a look at the gallery down below as we included our favourite pictures and an exclusive BTS photo of the veil shot!

Before proceeding onto the reception, Nicole switched into a beautiful beige cheongsam with flowers adorned all over to start the Chinese Tea Ceremony. As the name suggests, a tea ceremony is a Chinese tradition involving the bride and groom serving tea to their families which includes parents and sometimes even their aunts, uncles, grandparents and other esteemed elders. The couple then receives well wishes and gifts, more often than not in the form of hongbao, which is seen as an act of welcoming, therefore uniting both families. The Chinese Tea Ceremony is a symbol of two families coming together and creates the opportunity for the couple to acknowledge the people who raised them.

Before we knew it, it was GAME TIME!

If the couple is fun and quirky, you just know their friends are going to have the same vibes and that’s exactly how their groomsmen and bridesmaids entered the stunning venue at Parmelia Hilton Perth. Embodying all their quirkiness by entering in sunnies and acting like bodyguards, it was a great start to the event as Nicole and Matt later appeared also in sunnies to settle the biggest and most important issue at hand. The wedding cake! Whoever ignores cake during a wedding is a red flag, you heard it here first folks!

“In its most profound reality, love is essentially a gift, Nicole you’re a gift to Matt from God, and Matt you’re a gift to Nicole from God”. With words like this from their friends, we can’t blame everyone for crying. Just from words alone, you can clearly tell how much love their friends and family have for the couple and we couldn’t be more honoured to witness this great moment. Thankfully during these moments of speeches, Nicole and Matt had more than their fair share of drinks because the tears do not end here.

The first dance for Nicole and her father finally came and you could hear a pin drop in the room if you really tried. It was a beautiful moment for the two as the lights shined upon them and allowed them a chance to finally settle down and have this dance as father and daughter. Words didn’t need to be exchanged to state the obvious fact that they both love each other so very much and we’re so glad that we were able to capture this heartwarming session for Nicole to watch over and over whenever she misses her father. It wasn’t any better for the emotional ones in the room as Nicole’s father passed her over to Matt for their first dance as Husband and Wife. Of course, it’s not a Chinese wedding without a Yam Seng! With everyone up on their feet and a drink in their hands, it was a great way to end the night as everyone raised their glasses and shouted Yam Seng before heading off to the dance floor to dance their lives away.

We hope we were able to capture every moment of this stunning night for Nicole and Matt and we can’t wait to see what the future brings for them! Happy Wedding!

With Love, from Iceberg
